Pool Tile Cleaning

Here in Las Vegas, we have hard water. Most likely at some point you will see a build-up of calcium along the water line of your pool, or perhaps on the edges of a spa over the spillway.

This indicates it’s a perfect time to schedule a pool tile cleaning.

Often people will ask us when we brush each week why there is still a white residue left. The brushing we do for our weekly service is to get the dirt and loose debris off the walls, and won’t address the calcium/hard water issue.

There are 3 ways to deal with the calcium and hard water stains:

1. The first is a chemical you can add to the routine to prevent buildup from happening.
2. Second, if it’s just a relatively small area, scrubbing the area with a pumice stone will work great (often it will come off with your fingernail but of course that’s not practical).
3. Finally, the third method is bead blasting – recommended for major calcium build-up.

This is the most costly tile cleaning method, and the pool needs to be drained to do it, but if you have the funds it’s a great way to get your tile looking almost brand new. After that we’d recommend a chemical product to prevent future build-up problems.
