Draining a Pool
Why Drain a Pool?
Fresh water is an important part of maintaining your pool long-term. When pool water evaporates (which happens quickly in the Las Vegas climate), contaminants like sunscreen, pool chemicals, dust, etc. become concentrated, which makes it challenging to maintain the chemical balance.
I recommend draining a pool every 3-4 years in order to add fresh water and to help alleviate that problem.
A good thing to test for every year in the fall is the TDS (total dissolved solids) level and the cyanuric acid level. When the TDS level approaches 3000 ppm or the cyanuric acid level tops 120, it’s a good indication that a pool drain should be scheduled.
